Representative Ed Sullivan Jr. - Chief Sponsor
In February of 2007 CAP developed state legislation designed to add transparency to the assessment process of homestead properties. This legislation was introduced to the 95th Session of the Illinois General Assembly by Senator Michael Bond. The bill requires assessors to provide more information to the homeowner regarding assessed valuations. This additional information will help homeowners compare their valuations with neighborhood properties so they may see that their property is equitably assessed. Further, this bill, known as the Homestead Assessment Transparency Act or SB0207, would require written explanations of the rules and procedures for appealing assessed valuations before a Board of Review.
